Ninth Street Plaza - Site Design
The intersection of 9th Street NE and Sunset Highway is a busy urban intersection and also the terminus of the pipeline bridge in Wenatchee, Wash. Our landscape architecture team transformed this once neglected site at the prominent East Wenatchee intersection into a small user-friendly plaza.
The design enhanced the usability of the space for pedestrians and bicyclists, and improved visibility and access to the popular Apple Capital Recreation Loop trail. The urban plaza is complemented by planters, seating, and views of the Columbia River.
Plaza development was a part of a federally funded enhancement project that included the realignment of a dangerous sweeping blind curve in the 10 mile loop trail, including a new access point at 32nd Place in Douglas County.
