Magnolia Hilltop Courtyard
This newly constructed home needed an outdoor entertaining space and streetscape to match contemporary style of the architecture. Our studio composed a landscape with an improved entry sequence, balancing the need for personal privacy alongside a distinctive public face. A steel framed gabion basket wall provides a crisp edge and doubles as retaining for the private patio behind a horizontal board privacy fence. The courtyard oasis with a new deck and Hudson bench by Forms+Surfaces is enclosed by warm wooden fencing set on top of the contrasting raw texture of the gabion wall, acting as a backdrop to bold streetscape plantings. Outdoor lighting, a new composite lumber deck, and a custom hot-tub surround round out the landscape plan.
