Revitalizing Butte-Silver Bow Parks: A New Vision for Community Recreation

Renovated parks are coming to Butte, MT, as SCJ recently completed the Butte-Silver Bow Parks Master Plan, now adopted as an appendix to the County's Comprehensive Plan. This comprehensive plan lays out a visionary path for the future of Butte's beloved parks. SCJ's team meticulously defined design criteria, updated demographic data and assessed community needs, and evaluated existing facilities and trail systems to identify areas for improvement.

Public outreach and collaboration played a pivotal role in shaping this master plan. The input gathered from the community and parks and recreation staff helped establish a long-range vision that truly reflects the desires and needs of Butte's residents. Through this collaborative process, SCJ identified possible capital improvements and prioritized them into a dynamic 6-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and a long-term 20-year list of projects.

One of the plan's standout features is its focus on climate-resilient design guidelines, ensuring that our parks will be sustainable and adaptable to changing environmental conditions. The plan includes exciting concept designs for the renovation of the Original Mine Yard Amphitheater, a covered ice rink at Clark Park, new trails, and a dog park, promising to enhance the recreational experience for everyone.

With this master plan, Butte-Silver Bow is poised to transform its parks into vibrant, welcoming spaces that foster community engagement and support a healthy, active lifestyle. Stay tuned as we embark on this journey to create a cleaner, greener future for Butte's parks!
